A small job, worked through

Shopify imported your products, but the images are missing.

Start with one affected product. Separate a missing media item from a storefront display problem before you rewrite the whole CSV.

1. Is the image in the product’s Media section?

Open Shopify admin → Products → the affected product.

  • Yes: the image is attached to that product. Check which media item is first (the featured image), then review the affected storefront or variant view. A CSV text check cannot diagnose a theme’s display behavior.
  • No: continue below. Keep the import result or error message nearby.

2. Can you add that one image manually?

Adding an image changes the product. Use a test product if you are only investigating. On desktop, open Media → Select existing → Add from URL and try the intended image URL. Or choose Upload new with the original file if you have it.

  • It fails: read Shopify’s error and check its current media requirements. If you test the URL in a signed-out browser, expect an image, not a login or sharing page. Even a successful browser check does not prove Shopify can fetch it.
  • It succeeds: inspect how that product’s image is represented in the import file and review the import results. One successful manual addition does not validate a whole CSV.

Shopify’s official adding-media steps and failed-upload troubleshooting are the source for the admin paths above.

3. Is the problem in the CSV text?

Check the affected product’s Product image URL (or legacy Image Src) value and product grouping against your intended source. The checker can flag supported CSV structure and image-URL text issues. It does not request URLs, inspect remote image contents, or verify that Shopify can fetch them.

4. Or are the source photos missing from your folder?

Different products need different shots? Check a mixed catalog with a required photo count per SKU, such as two-photo mugs and four-photo bags. These counts are your photography choices, not Shopify requirements.

When your local filenames follow a numbered SKU pattern, check local photo coverage against your complete catalog. For example, with two required slots, underscore separator and two-digit numbering, synthetic SKU MUG-01 expects MUG-01_01.jpg and MUG-01_02.jpg (other supported extensions also work).

A slot is a required photo number. This checks which slots have a matching filename, no match or more than one possible match. It does not look at photo contents, connect to Shopify, or establish whether an image was uploaded. If your filenames do not follow the selected convention, unmatched does not mean the photo is wrong.

What to keep for the next check

Note the affected product, the import error, whether media exists in admin, and whether a single manual addition worked. Keep private store details out of public support posts. That small record is more useful than blindly importing the whole catalog again.

Independent of Shopify. These checks narrow the problem; they do not guarantee an import or a storefront result.
