When this tool is useful
Use it for a bank transaction CSV with a Date, Description and signed Amount column, or separate Debit and Credit columns. It is useful when an export contains currency symbols, negative amounts in parentheses, mixed date formatting, or repeated source rows. Files with and without column headings are supported; match the columns yourself when headings are missing.
What gets checked and fixed
- Dates are exported in a consistent MM/DD/YYYY format after you choose the source date order.
- Amount formatting is cleaned, including currency symbols and parentheses.
- Exact duplicate source rows are flagged. Removing later copies is your choice.
- Invalid rows are listed for review, and large outputs can be split into import parts.
Choose your CSV, check the column matches, date order and number format, then review the preview. For separate money columns, verify a payment and a deposit against your statement, if both are present, before confirming. Totals cover only the included rows; they are not your account balance.
A small example
Synthetic input with day/month/year dates:
Transaction date,Details,Amount 31/01/2026,Coffee,($4.50)
After matching the columns and selecting day/month/year, the formatted transaction is:
Date,Description,Amount 01/31/2026,Coffee,-4.50
This illustrates formatting, not a change to the transaction. If that entire source row appears twice, optional duplicate removal retains the first copy. Two payments with different source cells are not exact duplicates.
Review before importing
Files must be CSVs up to 20 MB. PDFs, Excel workbooks and QuickBooks backup files are not supported. Ambiguous dates need the correct source date-order selection; a preview cannot determine your bank’s intent.
Invalid rows are excluded from the corrected output. Download the issues list, fix those rows and run the file again. If there are multiple output parts, import each part once.
The tool cannot detect transactions already in QuickBooks or decide whether repeated payments are legitimate. Keep your original file, verify dates and totals, and select MM/DD/YYYY during the QuickBooks import. Requirements can vary by version and region.
Choose the source formats
Auto-detect pauses corrected downloads when a date or amount has more than one valid meaning. Check your statement or bank export settings, then choose Date order and Number format. Conflicting date orders need correction in the source file.

QuickBooks CSV dates and amounts: a worked example before import. Download five synthetic rows, choose explicit settings, and check the expected totals. See why an invalid date is excluded and why an identical payment still needs review.
Your file stays in your browser
The tool reads and processes your selected file locally in the browser. File contents and filenames are not uploaded to our servers or saved by the app. Close or refresh the tool tab to clear its working copy; original files and downloaded results remain on your device.
The tool uses Plausible for limited visit, processing, ready-output and download-request counts. These do not include file contents, filenames or file-derived values. Hosting and analytics services receive ordinary connection information. See the Litewares privacy note and the tool’s own disclosure.
Common questions
Can I use a file without column names?
Yes. Untick “First row contains column names” and match each column to the appropriate field.
Does it remove transactions already in QuickBooks?
No. Duplicate detection compares every cell in the uploaded source rows, including ignored columns. The tool does not connect to your QuickBooks account.
Will QuickBooks definitely accept the result?
No. Formatting helps prepare the file, but you still need to review errors, match the import fields and check your version’s requirements.
